Due articoli che parlano della Grecia, rispetto al “gioco di forze” che si sta avendo in questo ultimo mese, prima di luglio, quando sembra si dovrà decidere veramente del destino di questo Stato europeo.
Joseph Stiglitz parla di un vero e proprio gioco di «brickmanship» dell’Unione Europea e dei creditori con il governo greco, continuando a richiedergli di sottostare ad un programma che ha prodotto evidenti errori e fallimenti.
The troika’s forecasts have been wrong, and repeatedly so. And not by a little, but by an enormous amount. Greece’s voters were right to demand a change in course, and their government is right to refuse to sign on to a deeply flawed program. Having said that, there is room for a deal: Greece has made clear its willingness to engage in continued reforms, and has welcomed Europe’s help in implementing some of them.
David McWilliams, nel secondo articolo qui postato, è anch’egli molto critico rispetto al trattamento ricevuto da parte dell’Unione Europea, dando una analisi molto puntuale del suo pensiero.
Greece is a battered economy, a fractured society and one where incomes have fallen by a quarter in recent years. It is destroyed. And it wasn’t destroyed by Syriza, its present government, but by a series of centre right and centre left kleptocrats who governed Greece with Europe’s blessing for decades. The radical Syriza is the consequence not the cause of Greece’s problems. This is the simple truth.
