Dopo aver scoperto una correlazione significativa fra la salute mentale di un utente e le caratteristiche delle foto che pubblica su Instagram, due ricercatori hanno creato un algoritmo capace di identificare individui soggetti a depressione con una accuratezza superiore a quella di un normale medico di famiglia. Ne parla questo recente articolo del MIT Techology Review.

The researchers found that depressed individuals tend to post images that are bluer, grayer, and darker, and receive fewer likes, than those posted by heathy individuals. […] “When depressed participants did employ filters, they most disproportionately favored the ‘Inkwell’ filter, which converts color photographs to black-­and-­white images”
