Howard Phillips Lovecraft, meglio conosciuto come H.P. Lovecraft, è sicuramente stato uno degli autori più influenti nel genere dell’horror e della fantascienza. I suoi racconti, spesso ambientati in un universo oscuro e inquietante, esplorano temi di terrore cosmico, l’insignificanza dell’umanità di fronte a forze antiche e incomprensibili, e la fragilità della sanità mentale.

Lovecraft ha creato un vasto e complesso mito, noto come il Ciclo di Cthulhu, popolato da divinità antiche e mostruose, come il celebre Cthulhu, Nyarlathotep e Azathoth. Questi “Grandi  Antichi”, spesso descritti come entità aliene e malevole, rappresentano l’ignoto e l’inconoscibile, suscitando un senso di paura e meraviglia nei lettori.

I racconti di Lovecraft sono caratterizzati da una prosa ricca e dettagliata, che costruisce un’atmosfera di crescente tensione e inquietudine. Le sue storie spesso coinvolgono protagonisti che, nel loro tentativo di svelare misteri antichi, si trovano a confrontarsi con verità terribili che minano la loro sanità mentale.

Lovecraft Archive (a volte Project Gutenberg ha problemi d’accesso dall’Italia). Io mi sono preso un omnibus su Amazon.
