Venti anni fa, il 20 dicembre del 1996, moriva Carl Sagan, astronomo e conosciutissimo divulgatore scientifico. Scientific American gli dedica un breve ricordo.

Sagan was a planetary scientist of the first rank, with tremendous gifts for public speaking and popular writing. He used these gifts not only to advocate for the importance and excitement of science, but also for the centrality of reason, the settling of disagreements where possible by appeals to evidence, and the essential similarity of humans across ethnic divides. His greatest commitments today stand in stark antithesis to the worst of the current national and world situation.
