Il giudice distrettuale Philip S. Gutierrez ha stabilito che le accuse mosse da Ashley Judd contro Weinstein non ricadono nei casi previsti dallo statuto californiano (nei termini dei quali è stata presentata la denuncia) e non ha disposto autorizzazione a procedere.

“The Court makes clear that it is not determining whether Plaintiff was sexually harassed in the colloquial sense of the term. The only question presented by the current motion is whether the harassment that Plaintiff allegedly suffered falls within the scope of the California statute that she has sued under.”

Ashley Judd potrà comunque procedere nella sua causa per diffamazione, che è ovviamente decisamente differente.
